Detroit quarterback Jared Goff put on a near-perfect performance in the "passing test" on Thursday night's opening night of the Pro Bowl, leading the NFC to a 14-7 win over the AFC.

After getting some help from Green Bay running back Josh Jacobs during an NFL trivia contest, Goff showed off his passing acumen by hitting an Ever target in a minute and 30 seconds and then some points. He scored 44 points for the NFC, five more than Minnesota teammate Sam Darnold.

Goff, Darnold and Tampa Bay's Baker Mayfield easily defeated an AFC QB team that included Cincinnati's Joe Burrow, New England's Drake May and Pittsburgh's Russell Wilson.

The passing game was the highlight of the six events on opening night. The NFC won two of the three relay races, a skills competition titled "Satisfying Catch" and a game show for NFL teammates titled "Helmet Harmony," similar to "The Newlywed Game."

The conference split the two dodgeball games, and New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams led the AFC to victory in the "Big Spike" with his powerful football throwdown.

Some highlights: The Bosa brothers, Joey and Nick, switched their feet to fast walking in the relay; and Bengals star Ja'Mar Chase made a one-handed catch for the first three balls, "a satisfying catch."

Four more skill events will be broadcast Sunday before the Pro Bowl games conclude with a flag football contest, each worth three points.

"We're ahead, and that's good," NFC coach Eli Manning said. "It just shows the heart, the preparation, everything, the commitment of these guys. They've crushed it. They're looking forward to it. They want a three-peat. (Everybody) is talking about Kansas City having a three-peat next week. Really, all eyes are on the Pro Bowl for the NFC having a three-peat."
